Year 3 trip to The Living Rainforest, Wednesday 15^th January 2025

 

As you are aware, as part of our topic on rainforests we will be visiting The Living Rainforest, Thatcham on Wednesday 15^th January 2025. The day will include a guided tour from a member of the Living Rainforest team all about how plants and animals have adapted to suit living in a rainforest environment.  The children will also have time to explore the rainforest at their own pace in small adult-led groups, completing activities as they go. Weather permitting, we will have use of their outdoor play area which the children will be able to use during their break time. We will be leaving school promptly at 09:00 and are due to return to school at 15:15.  In order to make sure we can leave on time, please ensure your children are in school between 08:35 and 08:45 that morning.

 

Children should come to school in their school uniform on the day, wearing suitable footwear for walking. This can either be sturdy shoes, walking boots or trainers. Most of the trip will take place indoors but as the visit is in the middle of January, the weather may be cold when we are outside, so they will also need a warm, waterproof coat. All children will need to bring a packed lunch and plenty of water for the day in a rucksack. We recommend around one litre of water; a small carton of fruit juice will not be enough.  As always, please ensure everything they bring is named.

 

If your child receives free school meals and you would like the school to provide a packed lunch on the day, please indicate this on the permission slip.

 

Any children suffering with travel sickness should be given their medicine at home before coming into school and parents should provide class teachers with any medicine to be taken before the return journey. You will need to complete a green form, available at the office, authorising the administration of medicine. This should also be handed to class teachers on the morning of the trip.  

 

The cost of the trip is £30 and permission slips need to be handed in to your child’s class teacher no later than Friday 20^th December 2024.  Payments need to be made on SCOPAY via www.scopay.com.  You can also make the payment through the SCOPAY mobile app which can be downloaded on the App Store or Google Play by searching for SCOPAY.  Please log in with the same details you use for www.scopay.com.  If you have a question regarding your SCOPAY account, please email the school office on secretary@owlsmoorprimary.com.
