Dear Parents,

History Exhibition and Picnic – Friday 17th June

As you will have seen in the school newsletter, parents are being invited to our History Fortnight Exhibition and to join us for a picnic on the school field. Over the course of the next two weeks, the children will be celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee by learning about the history of the monarchy, the commonwealth and a wide variety of events that have occurred over the past 70 years. To celebrate their learning, the children will be producing pieces of work that will be put on display in their classroom and also in the school hall. We would like to invite you to view the work as well as join us for a picnic.

On that Friday we are asking all children to either wear red, white and blue or come in their school uniform.

We will open the school gates at 12 noon for parents to come on-site and, at 12:15pm, all the children will perform a selection of jubilee-themed songs as well as enjoying a performance from members of our talented choir. Following this, we will have a picnic lunch on the field for all pupils and parents. This will run from 12:30pm – 13:30pm. Please bring lunch and rugs/groundsheets but no BBQs. If your child normally has a school dinner, or your child is entitled to a free school meal and you would like the kitchen to provide a picnic, please print and complete the form below and return by Friday 10th June; if you do not have access to a printer, please contact the school office by telephone or through a handwritten note. If we do not receive a request for your child to have a school packed lunch, we will assume that you will be providing them with a packed lunch from home. The kitchen will not be cooking any hot food on this day. Please can we request that you do not put fizzy drinks or chocolate in the children’s lunch boxes.  If parents are not able to attend, the children will sit with their year group teachers and any other children from their year group whose parents are unable to attend.

After the picnic concludes at 1:30pm, the children will line up on the top playground and return to their class to be registered for the afternoon session. Parents will then be invited to go back to their child’s classroom to collect their child, view some of their work and browse a selection of work from across the school in the hall. At this point if you wish, you will be able to take your child home. Alternatively, you can view the pieces of work and keep your child in school until 3:10pm as normal. Please note, the children who have permission to walk home will not be allowed to walk home at the conclusion of the picnic without a parent taking them home.

We are looking forward to the History Exhibition and picnic and hope you are able to join us.  If the weather is looking unfavourable, we will be cancelling the picnic (we will notify you by text), but you will still be able to collect your child from their classroom at 1.30pm and see the work on display.

Yours sincerely,

EA Cole (Mrs)

Headteacher
