This event will take place on 12/11/2021

Tuesday 2nd November

Dear Parents,

Year 5 Ancient Greek Day

As part of our current history topic, the Ancient Greeks, the children will take part in a ‘Greek Day’ on Friday 12th November.

During the day, the children will be visited by The Drama Hut, a theatre company, and will take part in a creative workshop, lasting for approximately seventy-five minutes per class. The children have enjoyed learning about Ancient Greece and this workshop will help to enrich their experience further. To add to the experience, the children are invited to come to school dressed as an Ancient Greek citizen or god/goddess if they wish to do so (this is not compulsory). Greek tunics can be made quite simply from an old white sheet or costumes can be bought online for around £7 if this is more convenient.

The cost of the workshop is £5.00 and permission slips need to be handed in to your child’s class teacher no later than Wednesday 10th November.  Payments need to be made on SCOPAY via www.scopay.com.  You can also make the payment through the SCOPAY mobile app which can be downloaded on the App Store or Google Play by searching for SCOPAY.  Please log in with the same details you use for www.scopay.com.  If you have a question regarding your SCOPAY account, please email the school office on secretary@owlsmoorprimary.com.   If your child is in receipt of the pupil premium grant, then the school will pay the £5.00 to cover the cost of the visit, in line with government policy.

In addition to the drama workshop, the children will be taking part in other activities, including making Greek pots and tasting Greek food. The children will hopefully enjoy trying different foods, such as, pitta bread, olives, feta cheese, tzatziki and Greek yoghurt with honey. We are kindly asking for a voluntary donation of £1 to cover the cost of the food tasting. This should be handed directly to your child’s class teacher along with the permission slip. Should your child have any allergies or special dietary requirements, please let your class teacher know. You are welcome to provide an alternative food option for your child if you wish.

We are all very much looking forward to our Ancient Greek experience and hope that the children thoroughly enjoy themselves!

Yours sincerely,

Mrs Fish, Mrs Reed and Miss Bess
