Internet Safety Matters Workshop – The Right Click

As a Rights Respecting School, we regularly discuss the children’s right to be safe, as outlined in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. In our ‘internet age’, these discussions include simple steps to ensure children stay safe online. This is a message we feel cannot be over-emphasised, so we are delighted to offer a free Internet Safety Matters Workshop for children in Years 5 and 6 to attend with their parent(s).

The workshop brings together Unicef UK’s child rights expertise with BT’s technological know-how around internet safety. Two volunteers from BT will introduce activities to begin a discussion around online safety, which parents can continue with their child at home.

Together parents and children will explore:

    • the devices and apps they use to connect online
    • likes and dislikes about the internet
    • ways in which people can misuse the information shared online
    • how e-safety and internet access matter for the promotion and protection of children’s rights.

The workshop will take place in the school hall at 3.20pm on Tuesday 29th November and will be available for up to a total of 40 attendees (children and parents). If you would like to attend the workshop, please complete the slip below and return it to the office, or to Mrs Fish, by Friday 18th November. If the event is oversubscribed, names for attendees will be drawn at random after the closing date.
