  • Friendship Week

    14/11/2016 -

This year, anti-bullying week takes place during the week beginning 14th November. We are supporting the Anti-Bullying Alliance’s theme, Power for Good, and we will be talking to the children during the week about building friendships and their power to do the right thing if they are witness to bullying.

The children in Nursery, Reception and Key Stage 1 will focus on ‘friendship’ and what it means to be a good friend. Children in Key Stage 2 will focus on bullying, discussing the definition of ‘bullying’ and what they should do if they experience bullying or believe somebody else is being bullied. This includes internet safety and any sort of cyber bullying.

As a Rights Respecting School, this links with one of our school’s core rights, the Right to be Safe, as outlined in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). As part of the event, we will be running a competition to highlight anti-bullying week and invite the children to design a poster, take a photograph, create a picture, write an original poem, produce a PowerPoint presentation or make a piece of 3D art to represent this year’s theme, ‘Power for Good’. Entries must be handed in to class teachers, or to Mrs Fish by Thursday 17th November, and the Rights Respecting Champions will choose the winning entries on Friday 18th November. Please ensure all competition entries are clearly named and state the child’s year group and class name. Winners will be announced during assemblies the following week and there will be three prizes available - one for Early Years, one for Key Stage 1 and one for Key Stage 2.

I look forward to receiving your entries.
